Two Keira teams will enjoy the experience of a lifetime playing at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday after reaching the final of the Weet-Bix Twenty20 Cup.
The Lions under 14s and 16s as Illawarra-Southern Zone champions won their regional final in Maitland, while the under 12s went close to making the SCG final before losing to Eastern Suburbs.
The Keira under 14s won two games in Maitland and will face Camden in Sunday’s Cup final.
Great knocks by Daine Richards (51 not out) and Josh Constable (53no) helped Keira post 2-143 against Thornton Park in a 71-run win. In the second final against Raymond Terrace, Keira again did the job batting first, making 147, with Daine Richards (50no) again outstanding and supported by a big-hitting Wesley Van Kempen (53no).
Raymond Terrace (104 all out) were in the game at 4-61 before Keira’s bowlers stepped up.
Jacob Scard had a great game, taking two wickets, plus two catches.
The Keira under 16s will face Engadine in their final after a strong batting effort, posting 6-146 to set up the win over over Camden Haven in their regional final.
