MODERATE flooding is expected in parts of the Lower Hunter from Friday.
The Bureau of Meteorology says a westerly cold front will bring rain that will cross the western and central parts of the state tomorrow, leading to rises in the Wollombi Brook from Friday.
The bureau said there was a 75 per cent chance of moderate flooding.
The State Emergency Service Hunter Region said the Hunter River was expected to remain below minor flood levels.
Landowners in the Wollombi Valley and parts of the Hunter River should prepare for wet conditions and be ready to move livestock, pumps and other equipment away from rising waters.
