Shout! The Legend of the Wild One will be at Sutherland Entertainment Centre from Wednesday to Sunday, March 20-24.

Loseby, 31, who lives in St George, has been in love with acting from an early age. As a teenager he had roles in Home and Away, All Saints, and Heartbreak High.

“Drama was the thing back then,” he said. “The singing and dancing came later.” Those “singing and dancing” roles include the MC in Cabaret, Joseph in Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat and the title role in Sweeny Todd.

Loseby also won a stage role in the Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Oedipus.

Back in the 1960s and 1970s, JO’K was known as Australia’s answer to Elvis Presley but his career was overshadowed by drugs and alcohol. His modern-day nephew is Channel Seven compere, Andrew O’Keefe.

Miranda Musical Society’s production of Shout! is directed by Bob Peet, with musical direction by Jennifer Parbery and choreography by Kira Nelson.

The production stars Leanne Ansell as Johnny’s wife, Marianne Renate; Johnny Acosta as promoter Lee Gordon; Nicole Butler and Wayne Thomas as Johnny’s parents Maureen and Ray O’Keefe, and Aiden McLeod, 11, as a young JO’K.
