Rain stirs up some hot fishing action

RAIN, and lots of it, has kept the fishing very exciting in the Nambucca.

Large jewfish have been around the V-Wall, with a healthy 5.2kg example weighed in by Lloyd Rowley, caught on soft plastics.

Fishing out from the wall is the spot to be.

There are reports of chappies sitting in tinnies just off the wall and cleaning up.

Offshore, marlin, tailor and salmon are being caught. Some of the stalwarts have been catching bonito from their boats in close too.

With the river being murky and the tidal range minimal, the river has also produced some good fishing.

Blackfish have returned, not in big numbers – but they are there. Also known as luderick, they are regular visitors, as they like the estuary and coastal river system.

Blackfish like cover – rock or wood debris – and are rarely seen in open water. Green weed is good bait, if anybody can find the weed let me know at the Boatshed, as we need stocks.

Meanwhile, in the shop a whole range of Surecatch Knights have just arrived.

So many sizes and colours to choose from – tailor just love them (we have a super selection from 10 gram through to 125g). So get in and make sure you are prepared.

Remember to weigh in your fish at the Boatshed – the competitions are well under way and the heat is on.

Everything you need to compete is here at the biggest little tackle shop on the planet.

We have had a good number of weigh-ins this month, so thanks people – keep it up!

Next time you pop into the shop be sure to fill in a Boatshed Members’ form – this will give you five per cent off everything in the tackle shop and cafe.

NICE WORK: Lloyd Rowley landed this beaut 5.2kg jewey on soft plastics
