AT just 13-years-old Nimmitabel’s Mae Walker shaved off her hair in the name of charity.
She was raising money for the Leukaemia Foundation and donating her hair to be used for wigs.
This is what was cut.
Mae as she is now.
At the last count she had raised $871 – well above her initial target of $250 – her long locks were shaved off at the Canberra Royal Show on Friday.
The hair comes off.
Her hair, which she could almost sit on it was so long, will be donated to Ascot Wigmakers in Sydney who specialise in making wigs for accident and burns victims, alopecia sufferers and chemotherapy patients.
She said she liked the look of her hair when it was cut short, before it was shaved, and intends to keep her hair short when it grows back.
