The buyer first saw the property on Saturday morning and was able to offer more than two other registered bidders, according to McGrath agent Sandy Funston.

”It’s a very elegant home,” she said, and the people selling were moving to Queensland.

The $930,000 price would have pleased the vendors – the price guide was offers above $880,000.

The property has its own jetty and an open-air, resort-style sheltered entertaining area.

Inside there is a study and a guest’s powder room, as well as large formal and casual living spaces.

McGrath planned to hold a dozen auctions over the weekend.

By early afternoon on Saturday, the agency had already sold one property and had three passed in.

Elsewhere, Richard Keeley, director of Luton at Woden, sold 15 Booth Crescent at Cook for $926,000.

”I sold it 10 years ago for $680,000, which was a record then,” Mr Keeley said.

”It’s got views of Black Mountain Tower and it’s in the Radford College precinct.”

The two-level home has four bedrooms, a deck and an in-ground pool.

More than 100 groups inspected the property before it was sold.

Mr Keeley said the result on Saturday was a record price for the suburb, $1000 more than the previous highest price, also for a house in Booth Crescent.

”It’s really the blue-ribbon address of Cook,” he said.
