IT has been a long off season for the boys from the Lithgow Junior Boys Hockey Association, but they are excited and ready to go come Sunday when the association hosts four teams from the strong Sutherland area.
It will be an ideal way to hone their skills in preparation for the coming Western Conference tournaments in the Central West competition starting in the coming weeks.
“The games against Sutherland will provide players and coaches from the various age groups valuable game time to assess their teams,” association president Craig McManus said.
“Lithgow has built up a enviable reputation of producing excellent teams and players and judging by this year’s crop of talented youngsters, the trend looks to continue.”
McManus and former Lithgow representative player and Sutherland coach Peter Tait have been working extensively together to make the day a goer.
“It is hoped to promote the day throughout the hockey fraternity and make it an annual event,” McManus said.
“Unfortunately, the senior women and men’s games were unable to be hosted due to prior commitments.
“But is something we will work on in the future.”
The day gets under way with the under 11s at 10.30am.
This will be followed by the under 13s at 11.40, the under 15s at 12.50pm and to conclude the day Lithgow will take on the Sutherland under 17s at 2pm.
