A huge crowd gathered at the Royal Hotel last Friday night for the Royal X-Factor finale.
The event was a huge success with a special guest judge appearing on the night, Jason Owen. This was a wonderful surprise for the contestants, especially the winner of the senior section, Kat Barnes.
Kat, who took out the title singing Wide Open Spaces by the Dixie Chicks, and Honey, I’m Home by Shania Twain, was thrilled to sing in front of the home-grown star, Jason Owen.
“I was honoured to be judged by Jason in our home town,” Kat beamed.
“Events like these are what keeps this town interesting and I would like to thank the Royal Hotel and Petra Mellor for creating this competition and giving me the chance to show another creative side of me.”
Ann Briggs from the Royal Hotel said the winners and everyone who participated in the Royal X-Factor should be congratulated.
“Narromine has a lot of very talented people and a very supportive community that helps nurture that talent,” Mrs Briggs said.
“This event would not be possible without the work of the judges; Jock Webb and Petra Mellor and the karaoke talents of Lynda Edwards and Tammie Jones – thanks for your hard work.
“Friday night was especially exciting because Jason Owen called in and helped the judges make their final decisions.
“He was very generous with his time staying to present the prizes. Thank you Jason for coming along and being a great role model, the Royal looks forward to hosting this event again next year.”
Runner-up for the senior section was Tristan Penson followed by Skye Jones.
