HSCFocusSTAYING motivated during the HSC can be difficult to achieve with work, friends and other distractions to keep you from your ultimate goal.
The most important thing is to recognise distractions when they occur, identify and overcome them.
The University of Sydney has provided some helpful tips on how to combat distractions during the course of the HSC.
It suggests setting up a combination of internal and external motivators to keep you on track.
External motivators are factors that we don’t control, such as high marks and university entry. Internal motivators are ones we ourselves create and control them, such as an interest in a particular subject, the wish to excel and the desire to improve future opportunities.
Research shows that both types of motivators are important but suggests that internal motivators result in greater engagement and enhanced learning.
Staying focused on your school work can also be a massive advantage for you in the future.
Becoming a prefect for example, is a great way to end your schooling and looks impressive on your resume.
How to be a good prefect:
● Help teachers and staff
● Be approachable
● Get involved
● Support younger pupils
● Practice your communication skills
● Enjoy your time as a school leader
Even if you don’t see yourself becoming a prefect, just remember not to stress and maintain your goals in sight.
